Pishari Kovil Temple is one among the ancient temples situated in the Royal Town (Rajanagari) of Tripunithura and is believed to be more than 2000 years old. The temple is located in a calm and peaceful surrounding in Eroor. The goddess of Pishari Kovil temple is the ‘Desha Devatha’ of Eroor. The goddess is worshiped as ‘Bala Parameshwari’. She is also considered as ‘Vidyaswaroopini’ and ‘Annapoorneshwari’. The goddess first appeared in the form of Bala Parameshwari to give darshan to an old devotee of her who is considered to be a yogi. The spot where the yogi received the darshan is now called ‘Srimoolasthanam’; we can see a swayamboo lingam over here. Later a Srikovil (Sanctum-Sanctorum) was made and a devi vigraha (Idol) was installed. The devi vigraha (idol) is carved out of a black stone as per the shasthra in a standing posture with four arms (Chathurbahu) and is adorned with ornaments.
